Our Sonnenhof is a guest house which is located on an atmospheric hill surrounded by mountains, with a dreamy view of one of the most beautiful Alpine landscapes in the heart of Austria. In this intense place we try very hard to create social encounters between people, animals and plants. It is very important for us to improve our food sovereignty. As a hobby, milk is processed into mozzarella and curd cheese and jams and chutneys are created from fruit. I am particularly passionate about the alchemy of juices, fine brandies and beer! In between, fresh farmer's breads are baked again and again! In our vegetable community (CSA) we grow field vegetables with several families and divide the harvest among each other. There is a lot of vegitarian cooking at lunchtime. In doing so, we have set ourselves the task of meeting our animals at eye level despite farm animal husbandry. A few years ago, our cattle barn was converted to a free-range stable. From April to October the animals are in the pasture. Our chickens are able to move freely all year round. This creates a special rural idyll that is very much appreciated by our guests. As a special "treat", we always make trips to our alpine pasture, which at 1300 meters above sea level gives a deep insight into the Dead Mountains. In summer there are countless opportunities for you to hike, climb or cycle and, by the way, explore the most beautiful corners of the area, such as the Gesäuse National Park, the Dachstein or the Salzkammergut. A jump in the "warmest alpine lake in Styria", which is only a few minutes away, ensures the perfect end to the day.
